The "Casa Famoso" is the first of two houses that will be located on the same parcel of land.  We opened this home in August 2009, and it is part of a project initiated by "Las Golondrinas" a Canadian foundation that has a heart to help children.
The first home is named after the family of 7 children who are the first children to live in the home.  Their last name is Famoso.  These children have been with us for two years, but were previously separated, with the four youngest living in the Casa Cuna and the three oldest girls living in the Casa Matriz.  Their parents have had their parental rights taken from them and the children have become wards of the government.
The purpose of this home is to provide a family type of setting keeping sibling groups together.  We will care for up to 10 or 12 children in the home with a full time couple who will become their substitute parents.  We will receive children that are considered to be long term with no chance of returning to their family.
It is our desire to provide a good family model for these children where they will receive everything that they need to grow up and one day form healthy, stable families themselves.

“Manuelito” is a happy little boy whose face dimples everywhere when he smiles. He is in the children’s home along with his 6 sisters - the three oldest girls in the Casa Matriz, and Manuelito and the three youngest girls in the Casa Cuna. These children were apprehended by Social Services because of the unhealthy moral environment they were living in. Manuelito easily adapted to the Casa Cuna, happy to bunk in with the other little boys. He and his sisters will need a lot of healing to break the bondages of their past and understand that their family situation was not normal and that God has a better plan for their own lives. Manuelito loves to participate in the daily devotions and we know that as he learns to trust Jesus, that He will provide a great hope for Manuelito’s future.

Rosa TeresaRosa arrived at the children’s home in August 2007 along with her brother and 5 sisters. The three oldest girls are in the Casa Matriz, and Rosa, her brother and two youngest sisters are in the Casa Cuna. These children were apprehended by Social Services because of the unhealthy moral environment they were living in. Of aall seven children, Rosa was the one who had the most difficulty adjusting to her new home. She really missed her mom. These children will need a lot of healing to break the bondages of their past and understand that their family situation was not normal and that God has a better plan for their own lives. Once Rosa adapted to the home, her tears turned to smiles and she happily joined the daily activities. As Rosa grows she will learn about Jesus and the wonderful plan that He has for her life.

Karina is one of seven siblings that we received in the children’s home in August 2007; the three oldest girls are in the Casa Matriz, and Karina and her younger sisters and brother in the Casa Cuna. These children were apprehended by Social Services because of the unhealthy moral environment they were living in. Karina missed her mom a lot when she first arrived and it was easy to see that she loves her younger siblings and had been involved in their care. These children will need a lot of healing to break the bondages of their past and understand that their family situation was not normal and that God has a better plan for their own lives. Karina is a gentle and quiet little girl who is embracing all the teaching about Jesus that she is receiving in the home.

Belen is the youngest of 7 siblings we received in August 2007. Her three oldest sisters are in the Casa Matriz, and the four youngest children are in the Casa Cuna. These children were apprehended by Social Services because of the unhealthy moral environment they were living in. Belen was only 5 months when she arrived and already getting into position to crawl. As she gets older and understands more, she, along with her brother and sister will need a lot of healing to break the bondages of their past and understand that their family situation was not normal and that God has a better plan for their own lives. Belen is a happy, active baby and is fascinated by all the activities that happen around her. She is already being taught about Jesus, and we trust that as she gains understanding, she will accept Jesus and His love into her heart and have the promise of a bright future.

“Lety” is the oldest of seven children that we received from one family in August 2007. The four youngest children are in the Casa Cuna and Lety and two of her sisters are in the Casa Matriz. The children are with us because they were apprehended by Social Services due to the fact that they were living in a situation that was detrimental to their emotional, moral and physical wellbeing. Their father was in prison and their mother and grandmother in a temporary shelter. When Lety arrived at the Home, she was very concerned about the wellbeing of her sisters and brother, as she was the one who was responsible for much of their care. Once she was able to see that everyone was well cared for and adjusting well to the new home, she was able to relax and enjoy being able to act like one of the kids. She enjoys her studies and the various activities in the home. We know that Jesus will heal the hurts in this girl’s heart as she puts her trust in Him.

Lorena came to the children’s home in August 2007 along with her five sisters and one brother. The four youngest children are living in the Casa Cuna, with Lorena and her sisters Mary and Lety living in the Casa Matriz. The children were apprehended by Social Services due to the fact that they were living in a situation that was detrimental to their emotional, moral and physical wellbeing. Their father was in prison and their mother and grandmother in a temporary shelter. Lorena was very dependant on her older sister Lety, when she arrived at the home. However, little by little the relationship between the sisters has improved and both of them are playing and fellowshipping with the other girls. We know that Jesus can bring healing to this family as the children learn to trust in Him.

Mary is one of seven siblings who joined the family at the children’s home in August 2007. The four youngest children are in the Casa Cuna, and Mary and her two older sisters are in the Casa Matriz. The children are with us because they were living in a very unhealthy situation morally and emotionally. Social Services had taken them out of the home because of the situation and placed the mother, grandmother and children in a temporary shelter. The father was in prison. Mary cried a lot and was very introverted when she first arrived. She was offered friendship by the other girls and has developed a caring relationship with them. She is experiencing difficulties in school due to the fact that she never went to kinder, but we are working hard with her and she is an eager learner, so we are confident that she will soon catch up. We are grateful that Mary has the chance to learn about the love of Jesus and has hope for a better future.
